Dear friend,
As I reflect on this past year, I’m filled with gratitude for every partner, volunteer, donor, and community member who has walked alongside Family Promise of Tualatin Valley. Your support has strengthened our shelter program, expanded our ability to prevent family homelessness, and ensured that parents and children facing crisis are met with dignity and hope. Together, we created the kind of community response that truly changes outcomes for local families—and we couldn’t do it without your partnership.
Last year marked the completion of a transformational remodel of our Bridge to Home shelter. Achieving this milestone in 2025 has poised us to enter 2026 with a brighter, safer, and more welcoming space that respects the dignity of every family. In particular, we can now serve families hot meals and offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities for both children and adults, from after-school tutoring and art projects to resume workshops and financial literacy courses. These vital improvements allow us to better serve our community's needs and enable families to connect with each other, stabilize, and thrive.
As I look toward 2026, it is clear that our work must continue to evolve. The funding landscape is shifting, and the needs of families are shifting with it. This moment calls us to be nimble—to strengthen our eviction prevention services, diversify our financial support streams, and boldly adapt our programs so that families continue to have a reliable path to stability. I am optimistic about where we are headed. With your continued partnership, Family Promise of Tualatin Valley will continue to adapt with purpose and lead through change, ensuring that every family has a place to call home.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Elise Schaff Laubach
Our renovation is complete!
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome families into our refreshed, thoughtfully designed space. Bridge to Home is now fully set up to better support healing, stability, and connection. Be sure to watch the virtual tour video below to see it come to life!
While we’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone, we’re still dreaming big—outdoor playspace, anyone? Stay tuned for opportunities in 2026 as we continue realizing our vision for Bridge to Home.
Food Support
Meet Chef Eric, the heart behind our kitchen at FPTV! With passion, care, and an incredible team of dedicated volunteers, Chef Eric does far more than prepare meals—he creates comfort, community, and dignity for the families we serve. We’re grateful for the tireless energy and heart he brings to Bridge to Home each and every day.
Hear from a guest about the impact FPTV’s food
“I had to look twice the first time I saw the weekly menu. Turmeric rice? At a shelter? And then it kept getting better. This isn’t the ‘charity’ I’ve experienced before. It’s authentic regard. I told the universe I couldn’t go on like I have been. I asked it to let me catch a break instead of stacking odds against me. For once, I needed to be cared for without being the disposable workhorse. So the universe wrapped me in this pause. Albeit terrifying at first, it’s exactly what needed to happen to get me out of the ruts I was looping for decades. And food is no small part of it. Nourishment re-patterns the field. Every bite reminds me: this isn’t a fall. It’s an intermission between life’s acts. Thank you for what you bring to the table, in every sense of the word.”
Stabilization
Shelter is easy to picture. Stabilization services are just as essential—but often less visible. In this video, Executive Director Elise Schaff Laubach shares what stabilization really means, why it matters, and how these behind-the-scenes efforts help families move from crisis toward lasting stability.

Meet Kathy, volunteer of the year!
Kathy Johnson is our 2025 volunteer of the year! Kathy volunteers in the kitchen multiple times each week, single-handedly contributing more than 400 hours in 2025. Congratulations, Kathy!
“Kathy has been such a light and true inspiration to have in our shelter meal program. Our team is very honored and lucky to have someone that brings so much hard work, heart and dedication week after week.”
– Eric Posada, FPTV Chef and Food Services Manager
Case Management
Shelter Case Management
During their time in shelter, families are supported through personalized, holistic case management tailored to their individual needs and goals. Each household is matched with a dedicated case manager who partners with them every step of the way—helping navigate challenges, build on strengths, and move steadily toward stable housing.

Housing Case Management
In addition to our shelter case manager team, in 2025, FPTV also employed six housing case managers. These team members begin by supporting clients when they experience homelessness and continue working with them after they are housed. These individuals may be staying in our shelter, residing in another community shelter, doubled up with friends or family, or living without shelter.
Adopting this model means that families can access case management and housing navigation support without having to wait for a shelter bed, which can often take time. Importantly, these housing case management positions come equipped with housing vouchers through Washington County, which means families can move into housing more quickly.
Once families are housed, our housing case managers provide ongoing, individualized support. They help clients build essential life skills, navigate community resources, and establish stable daily routines. From job readiness and financial literacy to household management and overall well-being, this intensive guidance helps families not only obtain housing but sustain it—resulting in long-term stability and independence.
We’re thrilled to share that Family Promise of Tualatin Valley has been named one of Oregon Business’ Top 100 Nonprofits (#19, in fact!)
“FPTV is a great place to work if a person wants to learn a variety of skills that could lead to growth in their role and advancement within the organization,” writes one employee. “Everyone on the team is dedicated to the mission, and team members regularly share their expertise with other roles and departments.”
Thank you to our volunteers and community partners!
